Contemporary Competition
The Contemporary Competition is a competitive event open to all instruments and voice with a specific focus on composers with a death date of 1945 or later. Winners of each age category will represent the District at the State Finals.

Location: Yuma Hall at Silicon Valley Piano
Fee: $90 for CAPMT members, $110 for non-members
State Finals will be held in March 2026. Date and venue TBD.

Brief Overview
- Five Age Categories
- Category A: Ages 9 & Under
- Category B: Ages 10-12
- Category C: Ages 13-15
- Category D: Ages 16-18
- Category E: Ages 19-26
- Repertoire must be memorized and composers must have a death date of 1945 or later
- Time Limits
- Categories A & B: 10 minutes
- Category C: 12 minutes
- Categories D & E: 15 minutes
