"Chamber Music for One"
Jeffrey LaDeur offers a lecture/demonstration exploring the symbiotic relationship of solo piano and chamber music performance. Guest Presenter: Amy Stephens
"It's All in the Details"
As an adjudicator for statewide piano exams, Amy has observed that a high number of students lack sight reading skills and attention to detail in their repertoire. But with a few simple adjustments in the learning process, all students can learn to tell great stories through their fingers. Amy feels this process begins with strong observational skills from moment one of learning a new song. In this interactive session, we will look at many historical and contemporary musical excerpts and analyze them together, discussing strategies for learning quickly and thoroughly so our students can maximize their ability to express themselves and captivate listeners. Amy will share some of her own compositions as contemporary examples of storytelling.
